Sew a gathering stitch along the scallops on the top and the bottom. I like to use a zigzag and embroidery thread for this project.

Fold your fabric in half and cut out 8 of the pattern shapes on the fold. Place 2 of the fabric shapes right sides facing together and sew all the way around with a 1cm (1/2 inch) seam allowance. Leave a gap at the base as indicated on the pattern, and backstitch at the start and end of your stitching. Pivot with the needle down at the top.
