What to eat in Bray, County Wicklow
The 1920's and 1930's saw the building of numerous orange-tiled bungalows which appear to be peculiar to east coast resorts. They are of little architectural distinction but they add colour to suburban Bray. Since 1960 the town has doubled in size, although the extent of the growth has been obscured by the pleasant wooded environs.

Bray is the biggest town in County Wicklow. It is known as the Gateway to the Garden of Ireland and is the longest established seaside town in Ireland. It is only 19km (12 miles) south of Dublin and is reached by DART, Train, Bus or the N11 road. There is a safe beach of sand and shingle to walk on and there is a spacious esplanade.

This popular coastal town is situated on the north end of County Wicklow and is often referred to as the Brighton of Ireland. The promenade was built in Victorian times, in 1859 and it stretches for a mile and a half along the coast. It starts at one end by Bray Harbour down as far as the foot of Bray Head.

Bray County Wicklow is the biggest town in the county with a resident population of about 35,000. It has been a popular seaside resort for over a century and was a favourite summer holiday destination for residents of Dublin city which is about 20 km away. Bray was connected to Dublin by one of the first Irish railways in the mid 19th century.
