No a doorstop sandwich is a term used in British English sandwich with 2 thick slices of bread with a filling it, as shown in that Guardian article. I use doorstop myself, I don't think Americans use that term. It's not like the sandwich in the American cartoon, it has too many fillings and extra slices of bread.
