La cala encantada, de Joaquim Mir, es fruto de la estancia del artista en Mallorca entre 1900 y 1904. En la isla, el pintor desarrolló una interpretación muy personal del color azul. Por encargo del arquitecto Lluís Domènech i Montaner, la sala comedor del Grand Hôtel de Palma (sede actual de CaixaForum) fue decorada con paneles de Mir y Rusiñol.
