A legend was born. That first Africa Twin was launched on May 20 th 1988 and proved an immediate sensation (even though it was never officially imported into the UK). Two years later, however, Honda produced a successor - the XRV750, or RD04, which did make it to the UK and remains highly prized today.

The 1990 Africa Twin model marked the end of production of the bike by HRC. The bike was introduced as the XRV750 with a bump in displacement, improved braking power and new bodywork. The big news, as the model name suggests, was the bump in displacement. The engine was the same basic layout — a 52-degree V-twin with three valves per cylinder.
