Karna is the son of Princess Kunti and the Sun God. He was born before Kunti's marriage. Just 5 years old, Kunti served the notoriously difficult to please sage Durvasa for an entire year. At the end of that year Durvasa, pleased, awarded her 5 boons. These boons allowed her to have a child with 5 deities of her choice.
