Il 'Dolmen di Avola' è stato scoperto dallo scomparso Prof. Salvatore Ciancio (1921-1984) Ispettore Onorario ai monumenti dalla Soprintendenza di Siracusa, nella vallata Cava L'Unica, in contrada Borgellusa dove scorre l'omonimo torrente. Si colloca a pochi chilometri dall'antica Avola sui monti Iblei e distrutta dal terremoto nel 1693.
