Seats on the train are reserved. We were given a taste of two wines while we were waiting. Once on the train, however, everything was first class. We had booked on the vista dome car, one of those observation cars popular mid-20th century. The food was as good as the best restaurants we had been on during our trip.

" If you're okay with splurging, I recommend the vista dome car. The Napa Valley Wine Train is a California must-do! The train is so quaint, classy, sophisticated, fun, romantic, you name it. All the staff onboard were super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the lunch express which was a 3-hour train ride with a 3-course meal.
