The Kattenstoet (lit. 'Festival of the Cats') is a parade in Ypres, Belgium, devoted to the cat. It has been running regularly since 1955 and is usually held triennially on the second Sunday of May. [1] Most recently, the 45th edition took place on 13 May 2018, [2] with the next scheduled for 12 May 2024. [3]

The Catboat (De Poezenboot) is a unique houseboat that is turned into an animal shelter. It is run by a group of volunteers with a big heart for animals and cats in particular. We won't even bother explaining how unique a floating cat paradise is, as you could have probably guessed. The best thing is that The Catboat is open to the public.

The Kattenstoet literally translates to 'the Cat Parade' and it is fully dedicated to felines. It occurs once in three years. The procession unites around 2,000 people in masquerade costumes of cats, mice, witches and sorcerers, cartoon and fairy-tale characters, etc.

Located a short stroll from Amsterdam Centraal Station is De Poezenboot, translation: "The Catboat"! This is a shelter for cats situated on a converted house-boat on canal Singel 38-G.
