Het O|2 labgebouw, dat onderdeel uitmaakt van de nieuwe VU-campus, past in deze ambitie. In dit nieuwe onderzoeks- en onderwijsgebouw werken 750 onderzoekers en zo'n 100 masterstudenten van de Vrije Universiteit en het VU Medisch Centrum samen aan belangrijke maatschappelijke vraagstukken binnen het thema Human Health & Life Sciences.

Het O|2 Labgebouw op de VU Campus aan de Amsterdamse Zuidas faciliteert en stimuleert wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar Human Life Sciences. Het bijzondere gebouw is het eerste universitaire gebouw in Nederland speciaal ontworpen voor instellingsoverstijgend onderzoek. Kostbare unieke apparatuur wordt gedeeld en in het ontwerp staan ontmoeten en kennis delen centraal.
O2 Labgebouw
Het O|2 Labgebouw is ontworpen vanuit een duidelijke visie: verbinding en ontmoeting. Dit is doorgevoerd in alle aspecten van het gebouw, dat ontworpen is als een compacte kubus: de ideale basis voor korte lijnen en maximaal raakvlak. Op strategische plaatsen is massa uit de kubus gesneden, waardoor een ruimtelijke structuur met spectaculaire.

The O|2 Lab Building optimizes collaboration between researchers from various disciplines and the sharing of high-end research facilities. Each floor consists of an east and a west wing, separated by an atrium that introduces daylight and clarity into the building. Both wings are divided into zones for laboratories, offices and services.
