Taman Ayun Temple, or "Pura Taman Ayun" in Indonesian, is a living testament to Bali's rich history and culture. Built in the 17th century, the temple exudes an unforgettable historical charm. Taman Ayun Temple is a Mother Temple (Paibon) to Mengwi Kingdom. This temple was built by Mengwi King, I Gusti Agung Putu, in the Javanese year of 1556 (1634 AD). Initially, I Gusti Agung Putu built a taman ayun temple to the north of Mengwi village to the worship of his ancestors. The temple was named Genter Park.

Taman Ayun Temple is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the year except for the holiday of Nyepi. Nyepi is observed in April and is essentially the New Year's Day festival.
