Jezioro to sztuczny zbiornik wodny powstały w wyniku budowy zapory (115 m wysokości) na rzece Drin. Kursują tu promy samochodowe, którymi możemy przepłynąć wzdłuż jeziora dystans ok. 33 km. Prom kursuje pomiędzy miejscowościami Koman i Fierzë, rejs po jeziorze to najszybszy sposób przejazdu z Doliny Valbone w kierunku Szkodry.
