In Conversation | An Interview with Danish Potter Anne Mette Hjortshøj Earlier this Autumn we sent our photographer and filmmaker to visit the wonderful Danish potter Anne Mette Hjortshøj ahead of her November 19th exhibition at the Goldmark Gallery. The show - all 379 pots - has almost completely sold out.

Since setting up her own studios, Anne Mette has built three kilns, the most recent being a two-chambered wood-firing kiln constructed back in September 2011, sheltered within the outbuildings of her farmhouse studio.

The project consists of Iwami Shinsuke, Mashiko, Japan, Ann-Charlotte Ohlsson, Jesper L.Larsen and I, Anne Mette Hjortshøj. As an apprentice, working with Phil Rogers, it was an obvious part of daily life in the studio, to collect and test various clays, woodashes and rock to use as raw materials. I adopted this curiousity in my own work.

Anne Mette Hjortshøj is a Danish studio potter based on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. [1] Biography Hjortshøj graduated from the Glas and Ceramic School on Bornholm in 2000 [2] before completing an 18-month apprenticeship with master potter Phil Rogers in 1998. [3] [2] Thereafter she moved back to Bornholm and set up her own pottery.
