The Orville could be considered Frigate-type and the the Double Engine ships as Corvette-type. Curious to see if another type exists between Orville and a Heavy Cruiser. With the differences in those double engine types perhaps we will see more kitbashed ships rather than a few strictly standardized classes. level 1.

2 Answers Sorted by: 17 It would appear that the prefix ECV stands for Exploratory-Class Vessel. In Season 1, Episode 6 we encounter the USS Olympia. Its prefix is L CV-529 and is described by Seth Macfarlane as a "Leviathan class" And in the Orville comic New Beginnings, Pt. 1 we encounter the B CV Burton. It's described as a battleship.
